An Update from the Village Playhouse Board

3/30/2021 -

Village Playhouse had tentatively planned on presenting the 35th Festival live the first weekend of June followed by two weeks of the 36th Festival.  We have now decided against this plan for a myriad of reasons, including wanting to do justice to all of the plays for both festivals, which would be hard when putting them on both in the same month. That coupled with our ongoing concern for the health and safety of everyone involved lead to the decision to push both festivals back into next season.

We have chosen to present the 36th festival as our August 2021 production and to present the 35th festival as a single weekend at some point in our upcoming 2021 - 2022 season.

All the plays in the 35th festival have been produced as online events and will be available for viewing through our website and Facebook page until the end of May 2021. The dates for the live festival will be January 14, 15 & 16 2022

The One Act Festival is back again year with a new crop of scripts from Wisconsin playwrights.

The Village Playhouse’s Original One Act Festival has been an ongoing project for over 30 years. The festival is intended to give playwrights a means to see their work move from the paper to the stage. Working together, a playwright, a director, a cast, and a crew develop and polish scripts for presentation to an audience over the course of three weekends.

The Village Playhouse is proud to have been the first (and we like to think the best) to implement the concept of an original one act play festival here in Wisconsin.

Due to COVID-19 to 35th Annual Original One Act Festival was canceled. However, we are proud to announce that the festival will now continue online! Throughout the 2020-2021 season we will feature the plays selected from the 35th Festival in special livestream events. We are very excited to use technology to still be able to bring you these great plays by local playwrights.

In addition (pandemic permitting) we are currently planning to have a traditional in person run of this festival for one weekend only, sometime during our 2021 - 2022 season. More details to come, watch this page for updates.

It takes a Village to do what we do so we would greatly appreciate your financial support.
